Dark Imagery Screensaver, as its name so adequately points out, is a screensaver. What kind of screensaver is it? It is a classic, simple, slideshow screensaver that displays a grand total of 18 top quality images on your desktop when the computer kicks in. All these images have one thing in common – darkness.

Darkness is the theme’s running theme. The developer says it came up with this screensaver because it wanted to offers “lovers of something a little more edgier” a screensaver that can “be a little creepy.” That is how Dark Imagery Screensaver came to be, a screensaver “not recommended for the faint hearted.”

You can customize your Dark Imagery Screensaver experience from its screensaver pane. From there you can select for how long an image is displayed (the default setting is of 10 seconds); you can select the order in which the images will be displayed; you can choose what transition effects the screensaver will use (by default all of them are selected; there are numerous to choose from); you can adjust the speed of the transition effects; you can adjust how the screensaver behaves (for example you can set it to ignore mouse moves and exit only when you press the ESC button), and you can enable the “Start image painting on Desktop” option (when the “Start image painting on Desktop” option is selected, the screensaver doesn’t just show up; it uses a transition effect to pop in).

Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, Dark Imagery Screensaver provides support for Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, NT, Windows XP and Windows Vista. Tested the screensaver on Windows 7 and it seems to work fine on this Windows version as well.
Limitations – there are none since this application is freeware. You can use it free of charge for as long as you want.
